Krishna, Qureshi may meet in Kabul next week

New Delhi, July 17: Notwithstanding the recent acrimony after their talks failed to make any headway, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi may meet next week on the sidelines of a donors conference in Kabul.
Both Krishna and Qureshi would be in Kabul to attend the donors conference on July 20, a bid by Afghan government officials to urge a start to the spending of billions of dollars of pledged development funds.
According to information available here, there were indications that Pakistani side, which appears to have piped down today after two days of acrimony with India, was exploring a possibility of a pull-aside between Krishna and Qureshi in Afghanistan.
Indo-Pak ties witnessed diplomatic acrimony, immediately after the dialogue which ended in sharp differences, with both sides holding each other responsible for not making any headway in the parleys on Thursday in Islamabad and Qureshi making unpleasant remarks about Krishna.
However, Pakistan appears to have piped down today with its leaders saying the country wanted continuation of the bilateral dialogue and is serious about normalisation of Indo-Pak ties.
Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said, Pakistan wants the continuation of dialogue with India. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has assured  me that all issues will be discussed. Qureshi said, We are very serious about normalising our relations with India. I met with my Indian counterpart in Islamabad just day before yesterday. We agreed to embark on a sustained dialogue process, Qureshi said.
